A graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. Dr. Gordon was a founding partner and President of Inverness Eye Care, P.C. in 1986. She sold her practice in 2019 and is now a member of the staff at Dry Eye Center and Family Eye Care in Homewood, Alabama.
Dr. Gordon has been active in many areas of professional service. She began her service to optometry on a local level in the Birmingham Area Optometric Society. In addition to serving as an officer, she coordinated local Save Your Vision Week projects. She served as President of the Alabama Optometric Association and chair of the Alabama Optometric Political Action Committee. She was the Public Relations chair, Alabama Vision USA chair, and Government Relations chair for the Alabama Optometric Association. She received Alabama Optometric Association President Leadership Awards in 1989, 1990, and 1995. In 1994 Dr. Gordon was honored as Alabama’s Optometrist of the Year. On a regional level, Dr. Gordon was Alabama’s trustee to the Southern Council of Optometrist and served on the Finance committee. She was a member of the American Optometric Association’s Commission of Quality Assessment and Improvement from 1996-2001. She remains active in the association as a keyperson for state and federal legislators.
Dr. Gordon served on board of directors for the UAB School of Optometry Alumni Association and was named UAB School of Optometry Alumnus of the year in 1998.
In the community Dr. Gordon has provided vision screenings for local elementary school for 13 years, participated in health fairs and Vision USA.
She was a member of the Inverness Rotary Club and has served on several committees, the Board of Directors, and was president in 2005.
Dr. Gordon is a member of the Church at Brookhills. She has been active in many local mission services and overseas missions.
